Key Aspects

BDG was chosen to undertake the development of a new focus community building for the City of Perth as part of their new Northbridge City Square redevelopment project.  

The building incorporates a café and other retail facilities on the ground floor with community service facilities on the first floor as well as a large 8 x 5M event screen directly viewed from the new Northbridge Piazza and surrounding areas. The building forms the backdrop to the new Northbridge Piazza, an events and meeting place in the centre of Northbridge.

The landscaped Piazza and community building provide a safe and comfortable environment to sit, meet and interact with interesting activities including public events, art and a marketplace. With quality landscaping and paving treatments this provides a safe destination within the city centre.

Through the use of coloured glass, lighting and aluminium finishes in combination with the coloured events screen the building becomes the focus. 

This design outcome demonstrates both sound judgement in visual design and competency in functional outcomes.
